Mom made several quilts using Red Wagon patterns. While researching a couple of later appliquéd quilts I ran across “Trains,” a pattern by Linda Brannock, which I’m sure was the source of Mom’s quilt “Trains in the Rain.” I just added that reference to the description of the quilt. Mom’s notes from that time period are not complete – she typically cited the source or inspiration for her quilts.
I was sad to see that Linda Brannock died earlier this year. She was such a talented designer and I wonder if she and mom ever met. There is a nice tribute to her on Barbara Brackman’s blog, here. Barbara’s book, An Encyclopedia of Pieced Blocks, was one of Mom’s earliest inspirations.
One Red Wagon quilt mom made that I have photos of is “Snowbound.” From Mom’s notes, many of her friends helped with the appliqué. The quilt is not among those we still have – I’m trying to track it down so I can get it photographed.
I can’t find much information on Red Wagon – it looks like they stopped publishing books in 2008.
