Martha Washington Star

This quilt was featured in Judy’s first book, Design Your Own Quilts. The caption reads “Judy used three solids in an Amish palette and just two 4” block designs for this simple little quilt, which features a traditional pieced Martha Washington Star block as the theme. The major design elements appear to float above a dark surface, a result of using the same fabric for the background in all the blocks. The quilt has narrow borders on two sides and is hand quilted with straight lines, diagonal grids, and “punkin seed” motifs.” Judy wrote “I like this quilt sideways, too.” Quilt was started 6/30/96 and finished 6/1/97.
