Lupine

Judy made this quilt for her parents’ 50th anniversary. It is a companion quilt to her mother’s “Fireweed” quilt, and Judy’s notes say it was inspired by Laurie Rockwood fireweed, but I can’t find any current information on the internet about Laurie. The lupine shapes are done in reverse appliqué. The label is typewritten on fabric and says “DON AND LOIS DAFOE 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY May 20, 1988 made by JUDY DAFOE HOPKINS Anchorage, Alaska.” Judy also embroidered “jhopkins 1988” on the front. I remember seeing this quilt at the Willow cabin, and it shows signs of frequent use, including fading of the dark green fabric. Quilt was started 3/30/1987 and finished 5/30/1988.
