Handy-Andy-Detail

I’ve added some more information to the Handy Andy quilt. Mom notes that it was her fourth quilt, and that the white fabric with light blue flowers was “used for rice bags at BA wedding” – my first wedding, in 1980. It also says it was hand quilted and I had put it in the Machine Quilted category, so I’ve fixed that. And, that quilt received a first prize in the Alaska State Fair in 1982. Now I’m feeling kind of guilty about using it so hard!

The most interesting question, though, is why Mom called it Handy Andy. In Mom’s 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks book, the Handy Andy block looks very different from the block used on the quilt. So, what block is it?
